Man jailed for four years after attack on woman in Great Barr |

A violent attacker who hit a woman over the head with a pint glass in the street as he robbed her has been jailed, after we tracked him down. Shane Hartle confronted the victim in Old Walsall Road, Great Barr, at around 7.20pm on 1 November last year.
He pinned the woman against a parked vehicle and threatened her as he demanded her belongings. He then smashed a glass over her head. The woman - who sustained facial injuries - bravely managed to fight Hartle off and seek refuge in a shop before calling police to report what happened. An investigation was launched by the Sandwell neighbourhood crime team and enquiries were carried out at pubs in the area given he'd used a pint glass. At one of them, a member of the public was able to give a description of a man which matched that provided by the victim. We established the attacker was wearing a tag at the time. Further enquiries helped us to pinpoint it was Hartle, and he was located and arrested in early December. The 38-year-old from Perry Barr pleaded guilty to robbery and was jailed for four years and three months at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday (27 July). Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is never acceptable and will never be tolerated. | ||
